Introduction about Speaker: –
Shri Hemant Kher is widely known for his exceptional portrayal of Ashwin Mehta in Scam 1992 (Webseries on SonyLIV rated at 8.6 on IMDb).
Acting is just one aspect of Hemant Kher’s career. Before his claim to fame, this National School of Drama Alumni, has worked as a Writer and Creative Director for numerous non-fiction shows like India’s Best Dramebaaz, Saregamapa, Jhalak Dikhalaja, Dance India Dance etc. He has shaped many careers as an Acting coach also. As an actor he is seen portraying pivotal characters in Webseries like The Whistleblower, School Of Lies, Crackdown 2, Rudra, Lust stories 2 and Films like ‘Vanvaas’, Notebook, Aye Zindagee’ and ‘Shadow Assassins’. His lead role in Gujarati series ‘Azaad’ got him great accolades. The ITA and Mid-Day versatile actor award winner will soon be seen in Netflix series like ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha and Taskaree. He will also be seen playing villain in Gujarati film Manch. Hemant Kher has never left his first love, theatre. You can watch him in plays like ‘third bell’ ’Lagan Magan’ and soon to be produced ‘Pandit Sukhlaal’. His 15 years’ experience as writer, director and acting coach has helped him carved his path as a successful actor.
Objective of the Session: –
The primary goal of the Guest Session was to introduce students to industry trends, discuss leadership skills, and explore career opportunities. Session was designed to equip students with valuable knowledge and real-world applications relevant to their academic and professional growth. The objective of a guest session on “The Joy of Pursuing Impossible Dreams” was to inspire and empower students to embrace ambitious goals, overcome obstacles, and cultivate a resilient mindset.
Details of Event: –
Sir Hemant Kher started session with a thought “If a man learns to learn, he can learn everything”. He is a Multi tasker and never said no to do any work. He added that anything if one does repeatedly again and again, he/she become perfect in that. He encouraged to do something which is impossible and emphasized on psychological practice rather than physical practice.
He gave three tools: 1) Listening, 2) Observation and 3) Practice.
He said that one may face many resistances in the way of finding uniqueness in inner state. These resistances arise from both internal and external forces that make it difficult to embrace individuality. To overcome these resistances, one must develop self-awareness, practice courage and cultivate the mind set of self-acceptance.
According to him, best version of creativity is to surrender oneself because creativity flows effortlessly when we let go off control, expectation and fear.
He suggested that “learn to listen rather than learn to speak”. This principle highlights that power of deep understanding over mere expression.
He believed that “There is nothing in this world that we can’t do”. It indicates that boundless potential of human being.
He shared two options and may work on it – I) Do whatever you enjoy & II) Enjoy whatever you do. This statement focuses on two fundamental approaches to happiness and success.
Sir said that when we are free we do two things: Worried and Guilty.
Impact on students: –
The Guest Session proved to be highly beneficial as it encouraged students to think critically, ask insightful questions, and explore new avenues in their field of interest. Many participants expressed enthusiasm about applying the knowledge gained in their academic projects and future careers.
The event was a great success, fulfilling its objective of fostering learning and development among students.
