“FLAIR 2025” Inter College Extravaganza, organized by Narmada College of Management (NCM), Bharuch, was a successful platform designed to challenge students and foster intellectual growth. The event featured five key competitions: Debate, Elocution, Quiz, Group Discussion, and Poster Design. Held on 4th October 2025, the event aimed to boost confidence, sharpen communication skills, and facilitate networking among students at the Narmada campus. The overall management, coordinated by both faculty and student teams, ensured a smooth and engaging experience for all participants.

FLAIR 2025 commenced with a formal inaugural function at 10:45 am, setting an inspiring tone for the day. Faculty Coordinators, Prof. Iram Khan and Prof. Vaishali Sheth, provided a concise overview of the five competitive events, detailing their rules and the intellectual challenges they presented. A concluding address before the competitions began focused on the values of healthy competition, learning, and networking, encouraging students to participate wholeheartedly.

  1. Debate Competition

Debate topics for competition were –   1. Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe?      2. Real or Reel Role Models?

Total 14 students in a pair of two students per team i.e. 7 teams participated in the competition with one debating “for” and the other “against” the topic. All the participating teams were from NCM except one team from NCSC (BBA) which participated in the event. Out of 7 teams, 6 teams presented on the topic – Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe?   and one team presented on debate topic – Real or Reel Role Models?

Team performance was evaluated through two rounds – Speaking round and the other was Rebuttal round. In speaking round each participant was given total 5 minutes to deliver their views on the selected topic. In the rebuttal round, students rebutted and cross questioned with each other on the points spoken in the speaking round. The language used in both rounds was English. Debaters presented accurate facts and evidence to take stand on their points.

Participant Teams were evaluated on the basis of Argument strength, delivery, rebuttal time management, Q&A.

The Debate competition concluded with the inputs from Panel of Judges on how to improvise on debating skills; appreciating the students for their efforts.

The debate competition was a success, promoting intellectual engagement and public speaking skills among students. It also fostered a spirit of healthy competition and collaboration.

Plans are underway to organize similar events in the future to continue nurturing talent and confidence among students.

  1. Elocution Competition

The Elocution Competition was designed to encourage students to express their ideas confidently and develop their communication and presentation skills. It focused on enhancing students’ ability to think critically, speak fluently, and express themselves effectively before an audience.

The event began at 11:00 a.m. in the Amphitheatre at NCM. The topics given for the Elocution Competition were “Ways to Mitigate Climate Change” and “Viksit Bharat 2047.” A total of 13 participants showcased their talent, with representation from both NCM and NCSC. Participants prepared their speeches in English and presented them within a 3-minute time limit, showcasing their creativity, awareness, and confidence.

The competition was judged by Dr. Chetna Makwana (I/C Director) and Prof. Rakhi Thakkar, who evaluated participants based on relevance of content, depth of speech, voice modulation, confidence, audience engagement, and time management. The student coordinators were Anas Patel, Jay Mistry, Jay Parmar, Parth and Hil Shah. Prof. Iram Khan was the faculty coordinator for the event.

Overall, the Elocution Competition under FLAIR 2025 turned out to be an inspiring and intellectually enriching event that provided students with an opportunity to speak their minds, share innovative ideas, and build self-confidence. It truly reflected the spirit of FLAIR 2025 — “Speak Your Mind, Win Your Future.”

  1. Quiz Competition

The Quiz competition was successfully coordinated under the guidance of Prof. Rakesh Panchal, along with active support from the Student Coordinators namely, Disha Modi, Harsh Jaglawala, Janvi Patel, Vrushi Bhatt, Ritu Sharma, Tailor Bismillah, Manav Desai, Hetvi Patel, Solanki Kinjal, and Vrajrajsinh Nakoom.

A total of 62 participants took part in the quiz competition. The competition was conducted

in three rounds:

Round 1: Elimination Round

All 62 participants appeared for this round, which tested their knowledge on various domains. Based on their performance, 16 participants were selected for the next round.

Round 2: Group Round

The 16 team selected participants. These teams were then divided into 4 groups, and from each group, one winning team advanced to the final round.

Round 3: Final Round

The final round was highly competitive and engaging. Based on their performance and scores, the top three teams were declared winners:

The quiz competition received an overwhelming response from the students and was appreciated for its well-structured format and smooth execution. The event not only tested participants’ knowledge but also promoted teamwork, quick thinking, and healthy competition among students.

Overall, the Quiz Competition under FLAIR 2025 was a great success, reflecting the enthusiasm and collaborative efforts of both students and faculty members.

  1. Group Discussion

The objective of this event was to enhance students’ communication skills, critical thinking, and teamwork. A total of 18 Students participated enthusiastically in the Group Discussion session.

Following thought-provoking topics were assigned for discussion:

  1. Role of Social Media in Shaping the Society

Participants discussed how social media influences Positive and Negative opinions, their how to connects people globally, and spreads awareness. Positive aspects such as digital activism, education, and networking were highlighted, along with negative effects like misinformation, cyberbullying, and digital privacy concerns. The discussion concluded that responsible use of social media can be a powerful tool for positive change. Teams 1, 2, and 3 (each consisting of five members) discussed the first topic.

  1. India’s Geopolitical Challenges and its Solutions

This discussion focused on India’s position in global politics, border tensions, trade relations, and energy security. Participants addressed issues like relations with neighbouring countries, defences preparedness, and the need for diplomatic strategies. The group emphasized strengthening international alliances, promoting economic self-reliance, and adopting a balanced foreign policy as key solutions. Team 4 comprising three members, discussed the second topic.

Judgement Criteria

After evaluating all teams on content, clarity, teamwork, and presentation skills, on these parameters the judges appreciated the participants for their active involvement and logical perspectives. The Judges for this competition were Dr. Chetna Makwana and Prof. Iram Khan. The event was coordinated by Prof. Vaishali Sheth

The winners of the event were announced as follows:

🥈 Second Prize: Dhruvi Chadderwala [MBA Sem I]

🥉 Third Prize:  Prachi Parmar [MBA Sem III]

The student coordinators for the event were Raj Rana [SY MBA], Neel Rana [FY MBA], Naitik Talati [FY MBA], Bhumika Solanki [FY MBA]

The above event was also graced by presence of Dr. Sushmita Ganguly, Director Education, NEST. Her words of appreciation Motivated Students of NCM.  This event taught students importance of team work, time management and effective communication skills.   

  1. Poster Design

The primary objective of the Poster Design competition was to engage the youth with the enduring principles of Mahatma Gandhi, encouraging them to express their understanding of his philosophy through the creative medium of visual art. The contest aimed to promote values such as non-violence, social harmony, and sustainable living.

Participants were required to create posters based on one of the three following themes, which were carefully selected to reflect the key aspects of Gandhian ideology:

  1. Swadeshi
  2. Unity in Diversity
  3. Gandhian Philosophy

The students brought their own drawing materials and utilized various mediums to translate their ideas onto the posters, demonstrating remarkable artistic skill and depth of thought. The event commenced at 11 AM. A total of 24 students (12 teams) participated enthusiastically, creating posters that were both visually impactful and thought-provoking. The participants were given 1 hour to complete their creative entries. The event was coordinated by Prof. Rakhi Thakkar. The entries were evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Dr. Rashmi Ghamawala and Prof. Vaishali Sheth.

Evaluation Criteria: Posters were judged on: adherence to the theme, neatness, ttractiveness of the poster, Creativity and Oral Presentation.

Winners of the competition were:

  • First Prize: Rana Nisha Jignesh Bhai and Vasava Tanuja Ben Milan Bhai from FY (MBA)
  • Second Prize: Patel Munira Abdulmajid and Patel Mubassira Siraj from SY(MBA)
  • Third Prize: Chokwala Shadiyah Siraj and Patel Sadyabanu Yunus Haji from SY (MBA)

The competition concluded on a high note with the presence of Dr. Sushmita Ganguly, Director Education, NEST. Dr. Ganguly took the time to personally view the impressive posters, appreciating the students’ creativity and efforts before having the distinct honour of awarding medals to the competition winners.

The event was a tremendous success, achieving its goal of blending artistic competition with a tribute to the Father of the Nation. The event provided an excellent platform for the students to not only showcase their talent but also to internalize and creatively interpret the profound lessons of Mahatma Gandhi in a modern context.

Conclusion

The successful execution of FLAIR 2025, the Inter College Extravaganza for Students, marked a significant achievement for Narmada College of Management, Bharuch, in fostering a culture of holistic student development. Held on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, the event delivered on its promise to be the ultimate platform for students to “Speak Your Mind. Win Your Future.”

The high engagement and calibre of participation across all five major segments—Debate, Elocution, Group Discussion, Quiz, and Poster Design—underscored the students’ preparedness and intellectual curiosity on critical national and global themes, including climate change, AI’s role in society, and India’s geopolitical challenges.

The event provided a tangible environment for participants to sharpen their communication skills and boost their confidence. The event concluded with a valedictory, where Dr. Sushmita Ganguly and the faculties of the institute distributed the medals and certificates to the winners of respective events. The prize distribution formally recognized the outstanding talent and hard work of the winners and participants. The institute also formally acknowledges the achievements of the students and the dedication of the Student Coordinators – Mr. Taksh Pandya, Ms. Asha Solanki, Mr. Digvijay Gohil and Mr. Krunal Solanki whose collaborative efforts were instrumental in the smooth and successful execution of FLAIR 2025.

FLAIR 2025 successfully met its objectives of challenging intellect, encouraging creativity, and promoting peer connectivity, setting a high benchmark for future iterations of this annual extravaganza.
