Introduction
The session began with a warm welcome to the expert, Mr. Hardik Nutan Dixit (HR-Manager, MRF), who was invited to share insights on the HR profession. Mr. Dixit’s session provided a practical and human-centered overview of modern Human Resource Management (HRM).
He underscored the importance of legal compliance and social responsibility, specifically mentioning the need for HR professionals to strictly adhere to labor laws like the Employee Compensation Act and manage the statutory requirement for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which mandates investing in community welfare.
A significant focus was placed on the evolving workplace. Mr. Dixit stressed that Diversity Management is essential for innovation, requiring HR to foster inclusiveness and prevent discrimination. He also addressed the challenges posed by the Gig Economy, urging HR to balance employer flexibility with fairness for Gig Workers.
From a development perspective, he clarified core concepts: distinguishing between Skills, Competency (KSA), and Competence (demonstrated ability). Discussing career paths, he contrasted the broad role of the HR Generalist with the focused expertise of the HR Specialist, noting that Industrial Relations (IR) and Learning & Development (L&D) are two of the most impactful and stable areas in the field.
Conclusion
Above all, the session’s central message was that HR is fundamentally about people. Mr. Dixit emphasized that empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence are the most essential qualities for HR professionals to build trust and a positive organizational culture, reinforcing this point with an activity on the value of active listening.
The session concluded that HR is a profession that requires both professionalism and a commitment to valuing human relationships.
At the end of the presentation, the guest speaker engaged in a lively Q&A session, addressing several key topics raised by the students. The session successfully concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to Mr. Dixit for his insightful and inspiring address.
