Topic: Career Opportunities in Corporate Finance

On 20th February 2026, Narmada College of Management organized an insightful guest session by CA Shri Sanjeev Sharma on the topic “Career Opportunities in Corporate Finance” for the finance specialization students. The session was conducted under the guidance of college In-charge Director Dr. Chetna Makwana. The session aimed to provide clarity on career opportunities, industry expectations, and essential skills required in the domain of finance.

Sanjeev Sir highlighted various opportunity areas for the students, including Investment Analysis, Financial Modelling, Risk & Control Management, Corporate Insurance, Taxation, GST, EXIM, and Sustainability. He emphasized that the investment field requires strong market awareness, careful observation, and proper analysis before decision-making, including understanding concepts like bid-ask mechanisms. Financial modelling was described as a key technical skill for corporate roles.

A major focus of the session was on Risk & Control functions within organizations. He explained that companies must identify potential risks and provide practical solutions to minimize organizational losses. Effective corporate decision-making requires a balanced understanding of company policies, profitability, and their resulting local impacts. Sir also emphasized that in life true success isn’t just about winning the situation; it’s about winning the person and sustaining the relationship.

The speaker stressed the importance of continuous learning. He advised students to read books and newspapers to stay updated on current affairs. Communication skills, analytical thinking, eagerness to learn and curiosity were described as must-have qualities. He encouraged students to “ask first” to understand how things connect before taking action. Observation, starting from basics, and reading in detail without rushing were strongly recommended.

Sir also highlighted the practical tools and certifications beneficial for students of finance, such as advanced Excel, Direct and Indirect Taxes, also ERP systems like SAP and Oracle. He emphasized planning, prioritizing work through a proper to-do list, and maintaining ethical values. According to him, a successful corporate career is built on a foundation of long-term vision, environmental and social awareness, and a commitment to philanthropy.

The session was highly informative and motivational. It provided students with a clear understanding of corporate finance opportunities and the skills required to succeed in the global financial environment. The interaction helped students gain practical insights into industry expectations and future career pathways.

The guest lecture by CA Sanjeev Sharma was extremely beneficial for the students. It enhanced their knowledge of corporate opportunities, professional skills, and life lessons necessary for building a successful career in finance.
