Orientation Programme – “Deeksharambh – The Beginning of Learning” (Academic Year 2026-27)
Narmada College of Management (NCM) organized “DEEKSHARAMBH – 2026,” an orientation programme to welcome the incoming batch of MBA Semester I students for the Academic Year 2026–2027. Held on 4th and 5th August, 2026, at the NCSC Conference Hall, the inaugural session was designed to introduce students to academic life, offer guidance from college leadership and trustees, and deliver key corporate insights from eminent industry experts.
The session commenced with a warm welcome by student anchors Ms. Dhruvi and Ms. Sanjana, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp and prayer. Dr. Subhash Yadav, Associate Professor at NCM, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the significance of Deeksharambh as a transitional journey into professional management education. Following a formal welcome of the dignitaries by the faculty, Dr. Chetna Makwana, I/C Director at NCM, delivered the Welcome Address, outlining the vision and core objectives of the orientation programme.
Leadership representatives from the Narmada Education and Scientific Research Society (NEST) addressed the incoming batch. Dr. Sushmita Ganguly, Director of NEST, emphasized that an MBA should not be viewed merely as an academic degree, but as a transformative tool designed to build leadership, technical expertise, decision-making abilities, and innovation. Concluding her address with the principle, “Today’s investment in learning shapes tomorrow’s success,” she reminded students that personal discipline, hard work, and adaptability are key to transforming management education into long-term career growth.
In his session on personal development and professional transformation, Shri Pankil Kapadia, Additional General Manager at GNFC and Trustee at NEST, urged the cohort to maximize their potential over the next two years. Drawing an analogy between raw materials and finished products, he explained that education and continuous learning serve as refining forces. He highlighted the contrast between charcoal and diamonds—both composed of carbon, yet diamonds shine due to refinement—encouraging students to stand out through strong character. Central to his talk were the “Four Cs of Success”: Curiosity, Courage, Compassion, and Commitment. Concluding with the message, “Be like a diamond that reflects light, not like charcoal that absorbs it,” he stressed that education must ultimately shape responsible, values-driven professionals.
Industry leaders offered practical perspectives on bridging academic learning with corporate expectations. In his keynote address, Shri Parag Shah, Senior Vice President and Site Head at Deccan Fine Chemicals, conducted an interactive session prompting students to reflect on their purpose for pursuing an MBA. Linking their professional growth to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, he redefined MBA as Mindset, Boldness, and Accountability. Shri Shah advised students to chase experience rather than mere grades, build strong networks, and leverage Artificial Intelligence as a tool without sacrificing human creativity and decision-making. He noted that while a degree secures an interview and skills get a job, attitude ultimately drives long-term success and promotions.
In his address on “Bridging the Classroom–Boardroom Gap: Expectations from the Corporate World,” Shri Hetal Kumar Bakre, Site HR Head at Sudarshan Chemicals, Ankleshwar, underscored that long-term career success relies heavily on professionalism, practical exposure, and adaptability. Praising NCM’s industry-oriented curriculum, live projects, and soft-skills training, he outlined key expectations beyond academic marks, including teamwork, professional ethics, punctuality, business awareness, and Emotional Intelligence (EQ). He advised students to analyze corporate business models before interviews and stressed that bridging the academic-industry divide is a shared responsibility among institutions, industry, and students.
Speaking on “Attitude and Values – Building a Strong Foundation for Success,” Shri Chaitanya Joshi, Executive Director at Indo Baijin Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Dahej, opened with an interactive activity demonstrating the importance of focus and presence of mind. He introduced the ASK Model (Attitude, Skills, and Knowledge), explaining how a positive attitude fuels knowledge acquisition, which then converts into practical skills. Differentiating hard skills (which get you a job) from soft skills (which sustain career growth), he used the analogy that values act as a GPS showing directions, while attitude determines the path chosen. He encouraged daily self-reflection and urged students to value guidance from parents, professors, and mentors.
Extending his warm blessings, Dr. Kaushal Patel, Principal of Narmada College of Science and Commerce, highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary learning and praised the collaborative spirit across the campus. He urged students to balance intellectual growth with moral values and social responsibility, inspiring the new aspirants to approach their postgraduate journey with confidence, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence.
In the afternoon, students were introduced to MBA program details which included NCM faculty, academics, student development initiatives, placement and career counselling, alumni connect, industry visits, library and IT facilities, Anti Ragging Rules, Discipline and Code of Conduct. The session concluded with remarks by Dr. Rashmi Ghamawala.
