Finance Skills Council – Guest Session on Career Opportunities in the BFSI Sector

On 7th August, 2026, Narmada College of Management organized an insightful guest session for the Finance and Marketing students, by Ms. Vaibhavi Mehta, Director of Underwriting (Life) at CCR Re in Paris, France. Ms. Mehta holds a Master’s degree in Hospital Management from Osmania University and completed the INSEAD Global Executive MBA as an INSEAD Scholarship recipient. With over 17 years of global experience across Singapore, Europe, and Asia—including key roles at RGA, Accenture, AXIS Specialty, and AIG—she brought a wealth of practical corporate perspective to the students.

Addressing the MBA cohort, Ms. Mehta outlined the core qualities necessary to build a successful management career. She emphasized that clear communication and active professional networking are vital for driving projects and building long-term industry relationships. Drawing from her own international career, she highlighted the importance of adaptability and a readiness to move geographically to take advantage of global opportunities.

Above all, she urged students to have a big aim in life while remaining disciplined in their execution, reminding them that failing to plan is planning to fail. Turning to the industry, Ms. Mehta explained that insurance is essentially an intangible service
where customer trust is earned at the time of a loss. Because the real value of the service is delivered when a policyholder files a claim, effective claims management serves as a critical function for any organization. She detailed several promising career avenues within the sector, including risk assessment, underwriting, claims management, actuarial science, and reinsurance. She concluded by highlighting how rapid technological advancements, such as automated processing and data analytics, are modernizing the insurance industry and creating rich opportunities for management graduates.

The interactive session provided students with clear guidance on personal career growth and a deeper understanding of the global insurance landscape. Ms. Mehta’s insights served as a strong reminder that combining ambition with structured planning and global flexibility opens doors across modern service sectors. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Iram Khan.
