Inaugural Ceremony of the Certificate Programme on EXIM Procedures and Documentation

Embracing these timeless words by Lao Tzu, Narmada College of Management successfully hosted the inaugural ceremony for its Certificate Programme on EXIM Procedures and Documentation on September 17, 2026. The ceremony marked the official launch of an educational initiative designed to bridge academic learning with practical global trade skills.
Following the opening remarks, the distinguished guests were formally introduced and felicitated. Dr. Chetna Makwana, I/C Director, extended a token of gratitude to the Chief Guest, Shri H. N. Maheta, Additional General Manager at Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals (GNFC). Shri Maheta, associated with GNFC since 1991, holds a background in Electronics and Communications, an AMIE, an MBA in IT, and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Engineers Kolkata and IETE New Delhi. Currently heading GNFC’s Training Center and Telecom Department, his career emphasizes automated, person-independent systems alongside active contributions to trusts like NEST and CDCT.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Maheta shared insightful viewpoints on why such learning initiatives supported by the Trust are essential for students, emphasizing the need to proactively build industry-relevant skills alongside academic studies.
Subsequently, Dr. Rashmi welcomed Mr. Chahat Thakkar, Senior Manager (Purchase) at GNFC. Holding a degree in Chemical Engineering and an MBA in Oil & Gas from PDPU (now Pandit Deendayal Energy University – PDEU), Gandhinagar, Mr. Thakkar brings over 15 years of experience in the international procurement of engineering goods.
Reflecting on his positive experience as a resource person in the previous year’s course, Mr. Thakkar motivated the students to make the absolute most of this learning opportunity, particularly given the strong and growing market demand for qualified EXIM professionals.
In her address, Dr. Chetna Makwana highlighted the importance of global commerce. She emphasized the course’s strategic alignment with the surrounding regional industrial landscape. Situated near major chemical, petrochemical, and manufacturing clusters—including Dahej, Jhagadia, Saykha, the Dahej SEZ, and various GIDC estates—the region generates substantial exports in specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and textiles. This concentration creates an ongoing regional demand for professionals skilled in EXIM documentation, customs clearance, freight forwarding, logistics, compliance, and international procurement.
The session detailed the structure of the 30-hour course, which will run on Fridays and Saturdays from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Covering regulatory frameworks, export documentation, logistics, export finance, insurance, risk management, and the import cycle, the curriculum will be delivered by industry experts, including Mr. Chahat Thakkar, Ms. Ankita Bhadauria (Manager – Exports), and CA Dr. Shailendra Saxena (ICWA, CS, Ph.D., Independent Consultant in GST). To earn certification, participants must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance and achieve at least 60% on the final examination. The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks acknowledging the dignitaries, management, faculty, and students for their support in launching the program.
